THE APPROPRIATE PUNISHMENT FOR CORRUPTERS

Corruption is being a bad habit in the government court now. Many governments do not care about amount of money that they had eaten. They are imprisoned and released easily. Most of them even have no boring to do corruption, because they can enter and released from the jail easily as they have much money. Indonesia must have firm and wise punishment for abolishing corruption in this country.

If we look at the society in Indonesia, corruption abolishing supports are very little. A large of people in Indonesia is easy to receive money for a bribe. For money, they are willing to give a counterfeit testimony. Beside it, many people do not realize a lot about the dangerous of corruption. In some companies, they even assigned corrupters as their leader after they were free from the prison instead. The corrupters should be given high and heavy social sanction. The society must say no for corruption and a bribe at all.

The law enforcement in Indonesia is technically and implementally weak because the discrimination still exists in Indonesia law. Many corrupters who had eaten much money citizens are punished with easy punishment. For instance, in Gayus Tambunan case, Sjahril Djohan is proven wrong in doing corruption as much as Rp. 500.000.000,-. And he is sentenced only a year and 6 months and fining 50 millions. But in East Bekasi, 6 persons are sentenced to 5 years for only gambling case instead. If the punishment of corruptors is easy, the corruptors will not boring to do corruption because they have a principle that is, “economic analysis of law”. If the punishment is smaller than the profits they will get, so corruption will be considered as a nice way to collect the money as much as possible.

By looking at the corruption in Indonesia, we must have a firm and wise decision for stopping corruption. Many criminal law exporters such as, Prof. Dr. Runtung Sitepu, SH and Prof. Mahfud MD suggested to give life sentence or even death sentence for the big shot corruptors, because they steals the wealth and the riches of this country and also destroys the citizens’ economic matters. Automatically, they do not have humanitarianism at all. They just emphasize their own stomach and they ignores about whose the money that they had eaten is. Actually, they had stolen the rights of the citizens. They had robbed the citizens’ money, whereas in fact poverties are found in many areas. Corrupters must be given high and heavy punishment or even life sentence and death sentence because they had stolen the citizens’ right.

Most of governments are doing corruption now. The Indonesian law should have the appropriate punishment for abolishing corruption. Because they had robbed the citizens’ right and let the citizens in their poverty. So that, the life sentence and death sentence are the most appropriate punishment for abolishing corruption in this country.
